Firefox 55 also receives performance enhancements, enabling users to open a large number of recently closed tabs on Firefox, instead of having to close tabs to open new ones as before.
Advanced users now have two new performance tuning options: Use hardware acceleration when available and Set maximum content processes. These options can be configured through Options => General (uncheck the Use recommended performance settings option).
Computers running Windows 10 Anniversary Edition support Hardware acceleration VP9, which uses less CPU and prolongs battery life.
Users can place the Firefox browser sidebar (where they can bookmark pages, access history, or sync tabs) on the right side of the program window by clicking on the title bar at the top corner and selecting Move Sidebar to Right.
