The update Firefox 84.0.1 resolves compatibility issues with some antivirus software on Windows. Previously, these antivirus programs caused issues on Firefox, so with this new release, Mozilla has finally fixed that issue, ensuring smoother performance on Firefox 84 regardless of the antivirus solution installed on the system.
Mozilla previously mentioned that version 84 may encounter certain installation issues when specific antivirus programs are installed on the device. Earlier this month, after the release of Firefox 84, the company stated: 'macOS users running Cylance software may experience Firefox installation errors due to misidentified flags as malicious software.'
Firefox 84.0.1 appears to be the final update for the browser this year, as Mozilla plans to introduce more improvements in early January. The next major release of the application is scheduled for January 26, when Firefox will be updated to version 85.
Firefox 84 introduced significant changes to the browser, including support for Apple Silicon. Also in the release notes of the application earlier this month, Mozilla noted: 'Support for Macs running Apple Silicon CPUs brings substantial performance improvements compared to the non-supported version.' Firefox now starts up 2.5 times faster, and web applications respond twice as quickly (according to the SpeedoMeter 2.0 test).
