According to StatCounter data, the Firefox desktop web browser has officially surpassed IE to claim the 2nd position globally. Although its market share gap of 15.6% still lags far behind the giant Google Chrome (60.5%), overtaking the 'legendary' IE also demonstrates the progress of the Firefox web browser.
The decline of IE and Edge is due to outdated technology. The browsing capabilities of these Microsoft browsers are inferior to their competitors'. Coupled with cluttered interfaces and poor user experiences, IE's decline continues. The gap between IE and Firefox is only 0.1%, but the likelihood of IE reclaiming its 2nd place global position is highly unlikely.
The current 3rd place position of IE and Edge in the world is largely maintained because they are the default browsers on computers. When Windows users start with a fresh install, they undoubtedly have to use the IE web browser. However, for the most part, this browser now serves only as a search tool for users to download alternative browsers like Google Chrome or Firefox. To replace IE with Google Chrome, users only need a few simple download steps. Previously, Firefox users were introduced to the feature of video calling on Firefox, which is one of the features that Mozilla has integrated into its browser and has been warmly received by users.
Moreover, for the majority of computer users worldwide, using Chrome as the default browser has become extremely familiar. With outstanding features, processing capabilities, and fast web browsing speeds, Chrome is the top software globally. It deserves to be set as the default browser on computers today.
