Surely, with the seventh consecutive increase in fuel prices since the third or fourth hike until now, you must have thought about switching from personal gasoline-consuming vehicles to public transport, electric scooters, or even a bicycle????????
I have done the same, switching to electric scooters (in mid-March 2022), both my spouse and I are now cycling for the majority of our commuting time and distance (in mid-June 2022),
The following article is to share with those of you who, like me, intend to switch to commuting by bicycle for work, for reference, and perhaps we'll have the chance to meet and laugh together on the bustling streets... bicycles, right???
Speaking briefly about my usage reality: the distance from home to the office is 13km (from Ha Dong to Dong Da, Hanoi), I have a bike purchased and left since 2014 - still in good condition. (some accompanying images will be provided with the article)
- First, let's consider the economic factor: According to tracking app data from June 16th to 23rd, 2022, I traveled 113.36km:
Car: ...currently no data, anyone with additional experience, please help me out!!!
I kindly refrain from extensive evaluation; readers can assess based on their own realities!
- Assessment of other tangible benefits: Health, time, mental state,......
- Time benefit:
Secondly: Round trip, I have about 2 hours for exercise. Previously, I spent 4 hours commuting by motorcycle and engaging in sports, but now, cycling leaves me with an extra 2 hours to play with my child, bond with my spouse, and attend to personal matters - which has notably improved my spouse's happiness and thus enhances mental benefits.
In addition to the above, there are a few factors to consider such as your physical fitness, knee and hip joints, especially during the initial transition as it can be considered as a workout session, so afterward, you need to shower. Pay attention to your actual conditions!!
If you don't have a bike yet: You'll need to invest around $150 - $250 to start, so if you're thinking of switching to save, think carefully! But if your long-term goal is fitness, let's go ahead.
Sharing a bit more about myself:
The article is a cheerful recount of the first 100km and arriving early.
I use Samsung Health to track my workout progress
My goal for this year is to cycle 1,200km - 1,600km, at which point I'll strive for even better sharing articles!
The article still has many shortcomings, so please provide more feedback, folks!
