The live-action adaptation of Karakai Jouzu No Takagi-san is generating strong interest from fans of the original manga by casting two actors under 18 to portray the main characters.
On the official website of the live-action series adapted from the manga written and illustrated by Soichiro Yamamoto, Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san (First Demon Second Devil Third Takagi), the first promotional video for the project has been unveiled. The video recreates various scenes from the original manga, starring teenage actors Rui Tsukishima as Takagi and Soya Kurokawa as Nishikata.
It's been revealed that the live-action Karakai Jouzu No Takagi-san will be filmed on Shoudou Island, located in Kagawa Prefecture. The film's storyline ensures faithful adherence to the original comic and will span multiple episodes, potentially expanding if well-received by audiences. The main storyline revolves around the daily lives of the 'couple' Takagi and Nishikata.
The film is set to premiere in March 2024 in Japan. Japanese television channels will broadcast the film at a fixed time of 12:58 p.m. every Wednesday (Japan time). Netflix will be responsible for distributing the film globally, although it's yet to be determined whether the film will debut on the same day or not.
The new promotional video has attracted various comments from Japanese netizens:
It seems like it's going to be quite different from the manga and anime, but to me, that sounds much more intriguing.
The dialogue and chemistry between the two characters are absolutely fantastic.
Just finished watching the advertisement video, and I'm already eager to watch the entire series!
I think it has a very youthful vibe to it, I'm loving it!
Souichirou Yamamoto published the original manga through Shogakukan's Monthly Shonen Sunday magazine from June 2013 to October 2024. The work has inspired a 12-episode anime adaptation produced by Shin-Ei Animation, directed by Hiroaki Akagi, and scripted by Michiko Yokote.
The anime premiered in January 2018, with the second season released in July 2019 and the third season, consisting of 12 episodes, released in January 2022. Karakai Jouzu No Takagi-san has been warmly received both in the Japanese market and across Asia.
