OPPO Reno8 Packs a Powerful Punch with Dimensity 1300 Chip
OPPO seems to have focused more on performance in its phones by significantly upgrading the OPPO Reno8. Specifically, the device is powered by the Dimensity 1300 processor, one of the newest and most powerful chips from MediaTek at the moment.

Specifically, the Dimensity 1300 is manufactured on TSMC's 6nm process. The device features an octa-core setup, with 4 Cortex-A78 cores (1 Ultra A78 core, running up to 3GHz, and 3 Super A78 cores, up to 2.6 GHz) and 4 efficient Cortex-A55 cores, expanding up to 2 GHz. With such power, OPPO Reno8 promises to smoothly handle most of users' daily tasks quickly.

I find the upgrade from Dimensity 900 on Reno7 to the Dimensity 1300 processor on OPPO Reno8 a significant and worthwhile improvement, providing users with powerful processing capabilities. This enhancement transforms the Reno series into a more well-rounded lineup rather than just aesthetically pleasing phones, as it used to be.

Additionally, OPPO Reno8 offers two RAM options: 8 GB and 12 GB, expandable by an additional 7 GB of virtual RAM. These high-capacity specifications ensure seamless multitasking for various applications, enhancing the device's performance with smooth, stable operations and minimizing lag. The device comes with 128 GB or 256 GB of internal storage, providing ample space for personal data.

OPPO Reno8 runs on ColorOS 12.1 out of the box and is especially backed by a 36-month guarantee of smooth operation from the manufacturer. This commitment signifies a strong and impressive statement by OPPO, addressing the historical perception of Android phones having a short lifecycle and less stability. With this assurance, users can trust OPPO Reno8 for extended performance without the inconvenience of lag or stuttering after a few months of use. Below is the configuration summary of Reno8 for your quick reference.
- Display: 6.43-inch size, AMOLED panel, supports a 90Hz refresh rate.
- CPU: Dimensity 1300.
- RAM: 8 GB or 12 GB.
- Internal Storage: 128 GB or 256 GB.
- Rear Camera: 50 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP.
- Front Camera: 32 MP.
- Battery Capacity: 4,500 mAh, supports 80W fast charging.
- Operating System: Android 12 (ColorOS 12 interface).
OPPO Reno8 boasts a dazzling design with vibrant youthful colors
The Reno series has consistently earned praise for its design, and OPPO Reno8 is no exception. This year, OPPO Reno8 adorns itself with an eye-catching design known as dual glass. Simply put, the rear of the device consists of two parts: the camera cluster and the back panel. Both sections use glass material and share a similar finish, but the camera section protrudes, creating a distinctive focal point for the device.

The device is available in three color options, namely Gradient, Sky Blue, and Midnight Black. While offering fewer choices compared to its counterparts, these three colors are still trendy and can suit various user groups. Users can select based on their personality and preferences.
OPPO Reno8 features square, trendy edges accented by two diamond-cut lines along the edges. With a thickness of 7.67 mm and a weight of 179 g, combined with gently curved corners, it provides a comfortable grip. The lightweight design ensures extended usage without causing hand fatigue.

Turning to the front, OPPO Reno8 boasts a 6.43-inch OLED display with a 90 Hz refresh rate. Unfortunately, due to the focus on higher-end devices in the launch event, detailed information about Reno8's display is limited. However, based on the provided specifications, the screen promises vibrant and beautiful visuals with smooth and quick responsiveness.

Regarding the screen design, OPPO Reno8 maintains the familiar hole-punch display with thin side and top bezels, and a slightly larger bottom bezel. Overall, the screen-to-body ratio is well-optimized, but I hope for uniform thickness on all sides to enhance balance and overall aesthetics.
OPPO Reno8 main 50 MP camera for sharp image quality
OPPO Reno8 is equipped with a triple rear camera setup with the following specifications:
- Main camera with a resolution of 50 MP.
- Macro camera with a resolution of 2 MP.
- Monochrome camera with a resolution of 2 MP.

In general, the specifications are quite impressive, particularly the 50 MP main camera with a larger sensor providing sharp and detailed photos in various conditions. While the specs may seem a bit trimmed compared to its predecessor, Reno7 5G, in my opinion, numbers alone cannot fully reflect the photographic capabilities of a phone; the synergy with software and accompanying technologies is equally crucial.
OPPO has enhanced the camera speed of Reno8, enabling you to capture moving subjects more accurately and sharply. Additionally, the portrait mode of the device has been upgraded, producing artistic and impactful photos.

Moreover, OPPO Reno8 is equipped with a 32 MP front camera, providing high-resolution selfies. When combined with OPPO's renowned beauty effects, Reno8 promises to be a reliable companion for your virtual life!
What's new with OPPO Reno8? 4,500 mAh Battery, 80 W Fast Charging, and 3D Cooling System
To power OPPO Reno8, OPPO has equipped the device with a 4,500 mAh battery. In my evaluation, this is a decent battery capacity, sufficient for a day's usage depending on tasks. Although the average battery capacity of smartphones has increased to around 5,000 mAh, considering the slim and lightweight design of OPPO Reno8, the provided battery is commendable. Moreover, the device's chipset is energy-efficient due to the 6nm process, and the screen refresh rate is moderate. Therefore, one can expect excellent battery life from this device.

Additionally, OPPO Reno8 features 80 W fast charging technology, a notable upgrade from the 65 W on the Reno7 5G. With such high power, OPPO Reno8 ensures quick charging, preventing prolonged interruptions during work or entertainment.

To optimize performance and battery life, OPPO Reno8 is equipped with a 3D cooling system. It includes a high-performance graphite sheet with an area of 6,640 square millimeters and a VC vacuum chamber with an area of 2,343 square millimeters. This setup provides efficient heat dissipation, ensuring stable operation and preventing overheating that may affect performance and battery life.
How much is OPPO Reno8? Is it worth buying?
OPPO Reno8's prices in the Chinese market, as announced by OPPO, are as follows:
- 8 GB RAM, 128 GB internal storage version is priced at 2,499 Chinese Yuan (approximately 8.7 million VND).
- 8 GB RAM, 256 GB internal storage version is priced at 2,699 Chinese Yuan (approximately 9.4 million VND).
- 12 GB RAM, 256 GB internal storage version is priced at 2,999 Chinese Yuan (approximately 10.4 million VND).

In my assessment, this is a very competitive price considering the features that OPPO Reno8 offers. Hopefully, when it arrives in Vietnam, the device will maintain such an attractive price, allowing users easy access to a beautifully designed phone with excellent performance and notable upgrades.

The content below represents my initial impressions before the OPPO Reno8 launch.
OPPO Reno8 blends youthful design with elegance from the premium segment
When it comes to OPPO products, it would be remiss not to mention the device's design. Although not officially launched, images of OPPO Reno8 have been leaked quite a bit, notably in the concept video of the Reno8 series by the YouTube channel Fan OPPO. Through the concept video below, we can see that the device will feature a square metal frame combined with softly curved corners, similar to the previous Reno6 and Reno7 series. You might be wondering, if it looks quite similar to the previous generation, what's new in the design of OPPO Reno8?
When looking at the design of the rear camera module, you'll immediately notice the differences. The back of OPPO Reno8 will feature a camera module with many similarities to OPPO's flagship, the Find X5 5G. However, this camera module still retains a hint of the squared design from its predecessor. The lenses are housed in a gently curved rectangular frame that seamlessly connects the back with the camera module, giving OPPO Reno8 an overall sleek design.

Not stopping there, leaked images suggest that the back of OPPO Reno8 is likely to be finished with a frosted glass layer accompanied by a color-shifting effect, similar to the previous generation. Additionally, according to Gizmochina, the device will come in three color options: Slightly Drunk, Clear Sky Blue, Night Tour Black. These youthful color choices, combined with the overall design such as the color-shifting back and trendy square-edged frame, promise to make it a perfect device for dynamic young users.

According to information from Gizmochina, OPPO Reno8 will feature a hole-punch design on the left side, a distinctive characteristic of the brand. Additionally, the Reno8's display will utilize a 6.43-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel with a 90 Hz refresh rate.

The device's edges have been somewhat optimized to be thinner, although the bottom chin still feels a bit thick. However, don't worry too much, as these specifications are more than capable of delivering visually stunning experiences through sharp frames and high realism.
Powerful Configuration with MediaTek Dimensity 1300 in OPPO Reno8
According to information from India Today, OPPO Reno8 will be equipped with the Dimensity 1300 chip from MediaTek, recently introduced. This mid-range chip succeeds the impressive Dimensity 1200, known for its high performance. The Dimensity 1300 features 8 cores, produced on a 6nm process, and is a 5G chip capable of delivering powerful performance, similar to its predecessor Dimensity 1200.

Alongside robust performance, Gizmochina also reveals that OPPO Reno8 will offer two RAM options: 8 GB or 12 GB, ensuring smooth operation, especially during popular gaming sessions like PUBG Mobile, Arena of Valor, and more. The device will also come with two internal storage variants, 128 GB or 256 GB, catering to your entertainment needs by accommodating apps and movies.

Moreover, information from MySmartPrice has leaked that OPPO Reno8 will be powered by a 4,500 mAh battery, the same as the OPPO Reno7 5G. Our previous performance review of the OPPO Reno7 5G showed impressive results, with the device capable of continuous operation for up to 9 hours. If you are concerned about the battery quality and usage time, rest assured that the OPPO Reno8 will meet your usage needs well. Additionally, OPPO enhances the Reno8 with SuperVOOC 80 W fast charging technology, optimizing the charging time compared to its predecessor (which only supports 33 W charging).

According to the latest leaked information, the detailed specifications of OPPO Reno8 are as follows:
- Display: 6.43-inch AMOLED screen, Full HD+ resolution, 90 Hz refresh rate.
- CPU: MediaTek Dimensity 1300.
- RAM: Available in 8 GB and 12 GB variants.
- Internal Storage: Options of 128 GB and 256 GB.
- Rear Camera: 50 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP resolution.
- Selfie Camera: 32 MP resolution.
- Battery: 4,500 mAh, supports 80 W SuperVOOC fast charging.
OPPO Reno8 camera promises exceptional photography
Talking about the camera system, Gizmochina mentions that the OPPO Reno8 comes with a triple sensor setup at the back, along with specific details for the front camera as follows:
- Main Camera: 50 MP resolution.
- Secondary Camera: 8 MP resolution (likely an ultra-wide-angle lens).
- Additional Camera: 2 MP resolution (likely a macro camera).
- Selfie Camera: 32 MP resolution.

Based on the specifications, it's evident that the main sensor of the OPPO Reno8 has somewhat reduced resolution to 50 MP instead of the predecessor's 64 MP. Despite the reduction, I believe the Reno8 camera will still produce high-quality images. Moreover, OPPO is renowned for using premium lenses in their products to deliver high-quality results. Hence, I am quite curious about how OPPO will optimize and introduce special photography features for this OPPO Reno8 model.

After discussing the design, it would be remiss not to highlight a standout feature that everyone associates with OPPO – the selfie camera. OPPO Reno8 will be equipped with a selfie sensor placed under the display in a punch-hole design. While the specific features of this sensor are yet unknown, I believe Reno8's selfie camera will not disappoint, considering OPPO's reputation for top-notch selfie cameras.
How much is the OPPO Reno8? When is the OPPO Reno8 launching?
As mentioned earlier, OPPO is expected to unveil the OPPO Reno8 series on May 23 in the Chinese market. However, there is no information available yet regarding the price of the OPPO Reno8. Based on the predecessor's pricing, I speculate that the device will likely be priced between 8.5 million - 9.5 million VND, a reasonable estimate considering the features it offers.
