First look at Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 leaks: The display spills almost to the outer edges

The first leaked images, allegedly of the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5, have surfaced on social media. Samsung itself has confirmed that the Unpacked event introducing two new foldable screen smartphones will take place in Seoul, South Korea, marking the first time Samsung Unpacked is held in its hometown. There is no official date for the Unpacked event yet, but one thing is certain, Samsung Unpacked will take place at the end of July at the COEX conference center, Samseong-dong, Gangnam. This implies that Samsung Unpacked will be held a few weeks earlier than last year.

The rendered image revealed by MySmartPrice vividly describes the external secondary screen of Samsung's new foldable clamshell smartphone. Instead of having the external screen span the entire dual-camera module, as Motorola did with the Razr 40 Ultra, Samsung still 'avoids' the camera module. To accommodate the screen, the dual cameras are horizontally arranged, unlike the Galaxy Z Flip4. And if the rumors from a while ago are accurate, this main camera module will not change in terms of components and configuration, featuring a 12MP main camera along with additional sensors and an ultra-wide lens.

Continuing on the external secondary screen of the Galaxy Z Flip5, rumors suggest that this screen will have a diagonal size of 3.4 inches, a significant upgrade from the tiny 1.9-inch screen on the Z Flip4. To make the most of this secondary screen, allowing users of the clamshell foldable device to use more utility apps without the need to open the device multiple times a day, Google also states that they are optimizing the interface for apps like Maps, YouTube, and Messages. As a result, the external screen will become more useful, rather than just for reading notifications like the Z Flip4.

At the same time, Samsung will also optimize their apps for the 3.4-inch screen on the Z Flip5.

In terms of specifications, in addition to the 3.4-inch secondary screen, Samsung may focus on upgrading internal components more, as the foldable device is rumored to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 'For Galaxy' chip, 8GB of RAM, and high-speed UFS 4.0 storage, faster than the previous version.
