Adobe Photoshop is the ultimate master in editing images on the computer. Below is a guide on how to sharpen images using Photoshop.
1. How to Sharpen Images Using Photoshop
First, you need to prepare the photos you want to sharpen and open them in Photoshop. Select File > Open and open the photo you need.
Step 1: If your photo has multiple Layers, right-click on the Layer and choose Flatten Image.
Step 2: Then, select Filter > Sharpen > Unsharp Mask... to open the Unsharp Mask tool.
Step 3: In the Unsharp Mask window that appears, you will have options for parameters such as:
- Radius: This parameter represents the brightness halo around the image, depending on the sharpness of the image you adjust accordingly. The ideal range is from 0.5 - 1.
- Threshold: This parameter represents the contrast value at the edge, the smaller the value, the more noise the image will have, and vice versa, the image will be smoother.
- Amount: Adjust the brightness of the image, you can drag the slider left or right to feel it.
After completing, press Ok.
2. Using the High Pass Sharpening Tool
Using this tool adds an additional virtual Layer above the Background Layer. Select File > Open to open the image you want to edit.
Step 1: Click on the Background Layer and press Ctrl + J or CMD + J to duplicate it into a new Layer.
Step 2: Utilize the newly created Layer and choose Filter > Other > High Pass.
Step 3: In the pop-up window, adjust the Radius slider until you feel it's just sharp enough, then click Ok to finish.
Step 4: Go back to the Layer you duplicated earlier. Click on the arrow icon and choose Overlay. Finally, just wait for the result.
