Connectify brings you a myriad of different benefits, transforming your personal computer into a free WiFi broadcasting tool. While many have successfully utilized this software, others have encountered challenges right from the start, facing common errors such as 'UPnP is not running' and 'Error Starting Hotspot' immediately upon initiating the utility.
How to Fix the 'Error Starting Hotspot' Issue
You can download the latest version of Connectify from here
Step 1: Check if your computer's WiFi card is activated. If not, activate it immediately.
Step 2: On the toolbar, click Tools --> Control Panel --> Network Connections
Ensure that Wireless Network Connection is activated (not grayed out).
*Note: The WiFi card might also be disabled due to minor changes on your laptop or by a dedicated WiFi transmitter, or even by using keyboard shortcuts on your computer.
If Wireless Network Connection is activated but Connectify Hotspot still displays a similar error, then you need to create a command to prompt the Administrator by:
Enter the commands 'netsh wlan show hostednetwork' --> “netsh wlan stop hostednetwork” --> “netsh wlan start hostednetwork”.
Among them, the 2nd and 3rd commands can create a virtual WiFi network during operation, aiding Connectify Hotspot to function accurately. With the troubleshooting steps for the 'Error Starting Hotspot' above, your laptop can once again serve as a WiFi access point as before.
