Fixing the blurry Office toolbar and locked toolbar issue in Office
Cause 1: Due to using a cracked version of Office, Microsoft locks the features
For the first cause, Mytour advises users to purchase a genuine Office installation from authorized Microsoft stores, or retail stores, computer retailers to obtain the latest Microsoft Office 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, and Office 2016 installations to ensure that you can use all Office features, including the previously locked toolbar functions.
Cause 2: Due to users not installing all features for Office
This issue may occur because during the installation of Office 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016, users might have accidentally deleted Microsoft Office feature files, resulting in the inability to use some toolbar functions as before. In other words, encountering the locked toolbar issue in Office is due to not installing all the features for the Office installation.
To install additional features, follow these instructions:
Access Control Panel on Windows, you can refer to how to access Control Panel on Windows XP, 7, 8 shared by Mytour. After accessing Control Panel on Windows, navigate as follows:
Step 1: Programs >Programs and Features > Find the Office version running on your computer and right-click, select Change.
Access Programs.
Proceed to Programs and Features.
Right-click on the Office version you want to fix the blurry Office toolbar.
Step 2: In the Office Setup interface, select Add or Remove features. Press Next to continue.
Step 3: Select the applications you want to add in the Office suite. Click on Choose advanced customization of applications option.
Step 4: Here, you will tick the box next to the installation package of Office features named Office Tool > then click Run from My Computer to install the complete Office features.
Click Update and wait a few minutes for Office to update additional functions for the toolbar, and at that time you successfully fix the blurry Office toolbar.
Cause 3: Users opening files with .doc, .xls, and .ppt extensions from Office 2003 on Office 2007 versions and above.
This is one of the common causes. When you try to open a document file on Office 2007, specifically Word 2007 and above, which is an old .doc file from Word 2003, you may not be able to use some functions like Chart or Math Type or Equation due to the difference in file formats between the two versions.
So the solution is to open the file in Word 2003 or convert from .doc to .docx but be prepared to lose some features as these two versions are not compatible. Conversely, if you open a .docx file on .doc, you can easily read the file.
As stated in a recent Mytour article, users can read Office 2016 files on Office 2010 because these versions have similarities in file formats, but if you open an Office 2003 file on Office, it will definitely cause errors and some features won't work.
Especially if users often draw diagrams in Word to illustrate content for a text section but when drawing diagrams in Word 2003 and then editing in Word 2007 and above, you will notice that Word 2007 will delete all the drawings made in the previous Word, and surely no one wants that.
