Fixing the issue of not being able to type in Vietnamese on Google Docs

Sometimes when using Google Docs, we find it impossible to type in Vietnamese using Unikey, which can be quite frustrating when we have tasks related to text. In this article, Mytour will guide you on how to overcome and fix the issue of not being able to type in Vietnamese on Google Docs.

There are many reasons why typing in Vietnamese on Google Docs may not work, and most of the errors are related to the input method editor (IME) we are currently using, such as Unikey and Vietkey. These are two popular input methods, with Unikey being the most widely used free Vietnamese input method editor today.

Unikey uses a Unicode-based method that is compatible with all types of text supporting Vietnamese, including the widely-used Telex input method. However, it is not yet a perfect software, and sometimes we still encounter issues such as not being able to type in Vietnamese on Word or other various programs. Step 1: Open Unikey and check the Character Map as well as the input method.

In the Character Map section, ensure that you have selected the correct encoding. Some fonts do not support Unicode and require TCVN3 or VNI encoding, but most commonly used fonts support Unicode.

In the input method section, Telex is usually set as the default input method, which is the most popular. You can also switch to VNI for some special fonts, but this is rarely used.

Step 2: Check if Unikey in the Taskbar tray has been switched to Vietnamese mode.

Step 3: If the above methods still don't work, try the following step. Right-click on the Taskbar and select Task Manager.

Step 4: In the Processes section, locate the Unikey software and choose Go to Details.

Step 5: The system will switch to the Detail table, locate the Unikey software, and End Task it.

Step 6: The system will ask again, choose End Process to completely exit Unikey.

Step 7: Open Unikey again and try typing in Vietnamese to see if it works.

When using Google Docs, the default interface is in English. You can set and choose the display interface to be in Vietnamese for your convenience in your operations on it.
