Encountering Vietnamese typing issues on Unikey is rare, but if you're facing this problem and don't know how to fix it, you can follow the steps below to learn how to resolve the issue of Unikey not typing Vietnamese.
Fixing Unikey Error: Unable to Type Vietnamese with Diacritics
First, you need to update Unikey to the latest version here: Download Unikey
Step 1: Right-click on Unikey.exe and run as Administrator by selecting Run As Administrator
Step 2: After successfully downloading and installing Unikey on your computer, launch the Unikey utility on your computer by checking below the Taskbar of the system.
Step 3: Check whether the Unikey icon in the system tray has switched to the letter V. If not, click on it to switch back from English (E) to Vietnamese (V).
It is not advisable to use two Vietnamese typing tools simultaneously. For instance, if you have both Unikey and Vietkey running, it's best to disable Vietkey.
Step 4: Reset Unikey's typing configuration: Character set (Unicode), Typing method (Telex)
Method 1: Right-click on the Unikey icon in the system tray, select pre-built Unicode and Telex input method.
Method 2: Right-click on the Unikey icon in the system tray, select Control Panel... [CS+F5]
Select Unicode character set and Telex input method.
For some Windows 8, Win 8.1, Windows 10 versions, you may need to Disable Unikey spell check mode as shown below.
