Fixing webcam glitches and sound issues on Zoom
Webcam malfunction and no sound are common issues on Zoom. If your camera isn't displaying or functioning on Zoom, here are some troubleshooting tips you can refer to.
When joining a call, Zoom will display a notification along with the option Join with Video. Make sure to click this button, as Zoom won't access your camera feed otherwise.
If your webcam isn't displaying, the first step you need to take is to check to ensure that all other programs using the webcam are closed. Zoom can't use the camera if another app is already accessing and using it.
If webcam or audio issues persist, you can check Zoom's audio and video by clicking here. You can then join the call as usual, just like on the Zoom app.
When using Zoom on the web platform and participating in a call, you can select your webcam by clicking Start Video. If a blank window appears, click the arrow next to the camera icon and choose Same as system from the list.
If everything still isn't functioning correctly, the next solution for you is to uninstall and reinstall the application. See details on How to download Zoom on your computer here.
Sometimes, the culprit behind webcam and audio malfunctions on Zoom could be the webcam being blocked on Windows 10 or macOS devices. In this case, you need to check app permissions to ensure that the Zoom app or web browser has access to and can use the webcam.
To check settings on the web platform, restart your call and click Allow to grant the app access to camera and microphone.
You can also check if your computer's webcam is blocked. On Windows, type webcam in the Start Menu search box, select Choose which apps can use camera from the search results. Scroll down the list to see which apps are allowed to use the webcam. Check if Zoom and web browsers are selected, if not, tick the box. Similarly, type Microphone and select Microphone privacy settings, then follow similar steps.
On macOS, first click Security and Privacy under System Settings, click the padlock icon and enter your password to make changes. Next, click Camera from the sidebar and check if web browsers and Zoom app are selected, if not, tick the box.
Finally, verify if webcam and audio are working on the Zoom app.
