If your Zenfone is not connecting to your PC and there's no physical damage, it might be because you haven't activated USB Debugging. Follow these instructions:
Enable USB Debugging on Android 4.2:
Method 1: Go to Settings -> About and tap on Build number seven times until you see the message You are now a developer!
Method 2: If there's no Build number in About, go to Settings -> About -> Software Information and tap on Build number seven times to enable Developer options.
Next, go to Settings ->Developer Options, switch from Off to On, and enable USB Debugging
Enable USB Debugging on Android 4.1 and 4.0:
Navigate to Settings -> Developer options, switch from Off to On -> choose USB debugging
How to Enable USB Debugging on Android 2.3 and below:
Go to Settings > Applications > Development > and check the box for USB debugging.
Depending on your Android version, choose the appropriate method to enable Zenfone connection to your computer. Once done, you can use your Zenfone with your PC seamlessly.
