Being a flight attendant has its glamorous aspects, but it also entails facing bizarre scenarios few can imagine.
Flight attendants unveil amusing anecdotes
As a flight attendant, you get to experience almost free wonderful journeys. However, the job comes with its share of challenges, such as flight delays, early wake-up calls at 4 am, working on holidays... Additionally, flight attendants witness peculiar behaviors of the passengers they serve.
Dirty diaper dilemma
Certainly, changing diapers for children on airplanes is inevitable, but instead of disposing of the dirty diaper in the trash, this passenger stuffed it into the seat pocket in front.

'Odorous waste' forces airplane to turn back
According to BBC, in March 2015, a British Airways flight from London to Dubai had to turn back due to foul-smelling waste. Abhishek Sachdev, a passenger on the flight, stated: 'The pilot requested the chief flight attendant to come over, and we knew something was up. About 10 minutes later, he announced: 'You may have noticed there's a quite pungent smell coming from one of the toilets. He said it was liquid fecal excrement. Those are his words.'
A spokesperson for British Airways stated that the situation posed health and safety risks because only half of the air on the plane is recycled and cleaned. Passengers had to stay overnight at a hotel as the next flight was 15 hours away.
Pouch-bearing animals
Some airlines allow pets to serve as 'emotional support' for passengers on board. However, few would expect someone to have a pet kangaroo as a companion.
Misuse of the lavatory
A flight attendant with 30 years of experience recounts encountering 'a passenger standing on the toilet seat and defecating.'
Impatient Passengers
In 2014, a passenger on a China Eastern Airlines flight opened the emergency slide after the plane landed at Sanya Phoenix International Airport (Hainan, China) because they 'wanted to get off the plane faster.' The incident delayed the flight by 2 hours and incurred a cost of $16,000. In April 2016, a flight attendant from United Airlines also exhibited similar behavior.
Exploding E-cigarettes
In March, a Delta Air Lines flight had to be temporarily delayed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (USA) after a passenger's e-cigarette exploded on board. While battery-operated e-cigarettes are allowed on planes, lithium-ion batteries in e-cigarettes pose a risk of explosion if damaged.
Pet Pig
A passenger was asked to disembark from a US Airways flight for bringing along their pet pig. The pig was noisy and even left waste in the aisle.

Bizarre Requests
Betty, the author of the Confessions of a Flight Attendant series, revealed that the weirdest items passengers request on flights are ordinary tools, but the peculiar part is their intended use. Among them, a passenger asked for a pair of tweezers to remove a splinter from their buttocks, a pen to pick their earwax, a screwdriver to dismantle their seat, or a cup, lid, straw, and knife to make a urinary catheter.
Leaving Animals on the Plane
Over 700 cabin crew members have disclosed items they find on planes after passengers disembark. Abandoned animals are quite common, including chickens, dried fish, frogs, turtles, and parrots.
Challenging Cat Situation
Betty writes: 'Many flight attendants find themselves in hilarious situations when a female passenger breastfeeds her cat. You read that right: breastfeeds her cat. And this isn't a one-time occurrence. They often respond: 'I'm just feeding my fur baby.'
Unexpected Mishaps
Betty recounts encountering a case of a drunken passenger on a flight to Las Vegas (USA). The individual passed out in the lavatory, collapsing onto the floor with their pants unzipped. After debating how to handle the situation, the flight attendants decided to use a long clamp (like those used for grabbing sandwiches) to tuck the 'exposed' part of the individual's body back into their pants.
Hanging Clothes on the Plane
You might not have time to wait for your clothes to dry before boarding a flight, but that's not a good reason to hang them on the seat.

Fear of Flying Symptoms
A flight attendant with 30 years of experience recounts: 'I once encountered a female passenger running towards the front of the plane and diving into my storage cabinet (she thought she was entering the restroom). She then curled up and began sucking her thumb. She claimed she forgot to take her sedatives before the flight.'
Sandwich Thief
A flight attendant shares that she once had a passenger steal a sandwich from the kitchen area. It belonged to a crew member. The crew member had taken a bite and left it on the counter (with lipstick marks on the sandwich) to assist a passenger. When she returned, the sandwich was gone. Later, she saw a passenger sitting and eating the sandwich in their seat. When asked how they could eat a half-eaten sandwich with lipstick marks, they claimed they were too hungry.
Goat's Head
A flight attendant reveals that a colleague once encountered blood dripping down from the overhead compartment, only to discover that a passenger had brought a goat's head from a Caribbean island onto the plane. This incident occurred before TSA (Transportation Security Administration) and security procedures were implemented.
