Ford has officially introduced the high-performance electric crossover, the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT. This is the high-performance version of the Mustang Mach-E, enhancing the powertrain for superior performance. Both versions, Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and Mach-E GT Performance Edition, feature design and performance upgrades to differentiate them from other Mustang Mach-E models. This includes a unique illuminated Mustang wild horse logo, higher power output, distinctive 20-inch wheels, and a new driving mode named 'Unbridled Extend' for track driving.
The Unbridled Extend driving mode modifies certain safety systems (traction control, stability control, etc.) to enable higher performance on the racetrack or dedicated airstrip. This mode, coupled with increased power from the secondary motor (front axle), has reduced the 0-60 mph acceleration time to 3.8 seconds. Additionally, Unbridled Extend adds simulated engine sounds directly into the cabin, emanating from the optional simulated engine sound system. An extremely appealing detail for speed enthusiasts.
The new engine increases the maximum power to 480 horsepower and a peak torque of 813 Nm in these two GT variants. The expected operating range is approximately 402km per full charge (according to EPA standards) under normal driving conditions.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E GT is equipped with 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels (aerodynamic design) paired with Continental all-season tires. It features high-performance red-painted brake calipers, and ventilated discs measuring 385mm at the front and 316mm at the rear. The surrounding lighting system inside the car, the Bang & Olufsen audio system, metal accents on the dashboard, and aluminum decorative details for the control panel are distinctive features of the GT models.
Notably, the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, boasting slightly higher torque (860Nm). This slightly reduces the operating range to 378 km per charge, but in return, you get an exhilarating surge of power. Most of the GT's additional features are present in the GT Performance Edition, with the exception of its Pirelli tires and the added MagneRide shock absorption system. Interior details are also upgraded, including the Ford Performance sport seats.
Exclusive color options for the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and GT Performance include Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat and Grabber Blue Metallic (previously featured on the First Edition Mach-E).
Customers can pre-order starting April 28, with deliveries set to commence in the third quarter of 2021. The suggested starting retail price is $59,900 for the GT version and $64,900 for the GT Performance version.
