Tom Cruise hires elite security team to protect himself after facing a barrage of threats from a former employee, along with director Christopher McQuarrie.
The Sun reported on October 11th that Tom Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie are compelled to enlist heavy-duty security personnel out of fear of retaliation from a former employee after they fired them.

“Tom and Chris are still working on the set of Mission: Impossible 8, mostly in the UK, but things are becoming increasingly uncomfortable due to a former crew member. It's like art imitating life. On set, the scenes focus on threats and the battle to protect lives. Now, something similar is happening behind the scenes. Tom has grown accustomed to having security around him at all times due to his fame. But for Chris, this is a very new experience,” a source disclosed.
The former employee who previously threatened Cruise worked as a stunt coordinator, tasked with scouting filming locations for dangerous action sequences, including scenes depicting a horrific train accident. However, their plans were not executed in the film. Subsequently, this individual was dismissed.
Information about the dispute first emerged in the media in France. Following their termination, the ex-employee initiated legal action against Cruise, McQuarrie, and Paramount Studios. The former employee accuses the film of the 1962-born actor of being financed by Russian oligarchs, even asserting that the FBI is investigating Paramount regarding this financial matter.
Despite the chaos, everyone involved in the film remains optimistic. He's just a disgruntled former employee. If there's one thing I've learned in this industry, it's that there aren't many battles Tom doesn't win,” emphasized the source.
Tom Cruise's representative has yet to comment on the matter. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has also not confirmed any investigation.

McQuarrie has collaborated with Cruise on several projects including Jack Reacher in 2012, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation in 2015, and Mission: Impossible - Fallout in 2018. They are currently working on two installments of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, set to hit theaters in 2023 and 2024.
This summer, Cruise made a triumphant return with Top Gun: Maverick. The film has grossed a staggering $714 million domestically and $1.48 billion worldwide since its release in May.
On October 9th, international media reported that Tom Cruise and Universal Studios reached an agreement for a film project to be shot aboard the ISS, in collaboration with NASA and Elon Musk's SpaceX. In this space-bound project, Tom portrays an unlucky man inadvertently thrust into the role of Earth's sole savior. Tom is set to travel to space via rocket, becoming the first actor to film in outer space and the second person in the world to do so after Russian actress Yulia Peresild.
