(Homeland) - Former T1 player Huni shares insights into Faker's leadership role.
In recent years, as veteran teammates departed T1, Faker naturally assumed the role of captain, guiding the new generation. Despite occasional challenges, T1 and Faker are presently on the right path.
Faker not only leads the young T1 team professionally but also embodies the qualities of a spiritual leader. A notable instance is when he consoled a tearful Keria after the defeat to DRX in the 2022 World Championship Finals. Despite his own sorrow, Faker prioritized the well-being of his younger teammates.
Recently, Huni - former T1 player and currently employed by Riot - shed light on Faker's leadership within the team. For those unaware, Huni was part of the SKT T1 2017 generation - the final season before the team faced a dry spell in both domestic and international competitions (ending in Summer 2019 when SKT T1 won the tournament).
According to the former T1 Top Laner: 'Mid Gragas isn't the best choice. However, Faker selects Gragas because he understands the champion and its mechanics rather than solely focusing on Gragas' position in the match. Additionally, as a former teammate of Faker's, and I've mentioned this in previous interviews, Faker talks a lot. But that's how he contributes to T1's growing strength.'
Huni elaborates: 'Faker speaks extensively, but everything he says is valuable. He always speaks a lot, like 'okay Huni, keep pushing the highest. The rest of us will face them. We'll face them at Dragon's Lair, even if it's 4v5'. He often discusses such matters. I've never seen anyone do what Faker does and be as good at it. No one has ever.'
Through Huni's insights, it's evident that Faker frequently initiates crucial calls and is highly proactive in communication. Moreover, Faker's ability to read situations and make decisions is exceptional, enabling T1 to gain advantages or handle situations accurately, even when at a numerical disadvantage.
Currently, T1's lineup is progressively becoming more complete, with the young players demonstrating outstanding performances. For Faker alone, if he can achieve international titles with this group, it would be a well-deserved recognition for the legend of the League of Legends community.
