Revelation about the DirectX 12 update on Fortnite
Epic disclosed in a blog post announcement that with the implementation of DirectX 12, Fortnite can operate at 'higher frame rates and improved stability' on high-end graphics cards. 'This is attributed to DX12 providing better CPU performance and enabling rendering across multiple cores,' the studio elaborated.
Furthermore, Epic also revealed their plans to introduce new features exclusively available to players on DirectX 12 to Fortnite. Although the developers did not divulge any further details, it's evident that this could be the initial step towards incorporating 'Ray Tracing' functionality into Fortnite, aiming to deliver superior image quality for those on DirectX 12, while ensuring no adverse effects on players using DirectX 11.
Players with DirectX 12 compatible graphics cards are encouraged to test the API with the official announcement of update 11.20, allowing Epic to detect and fix issues before releasing new features. Download DirectX 12 here.
In just two short years since its release, Epic Games' Battle Royale game Fortnite has reshaped the video game market. On November 13th, Epic Games officially announced the start date of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 to be in December 2019. Season 2 is expected to bring significant changes compared to Season 1.
It will include a new Battle Pass, new events and challenges, and perhaps also some kind of holiday-themed tie-in. These plans are contingent on the game's release timing (end of the year). So far, Fortnite hasn't had any winter themes deployed in Season 1.
