While the survival shooter game version continues to exist and operate on macOS, it will no longer receive any new updates. The same applies to Save the World. Fortnite has announced that Fortnite: Save The World will cease operations on macOS from September 23rd, as they are unable to push updates for the game.

In a blog post, Epic blames Apple for hindering the company from distributing updates, anticipating future errors as a consequence.
As a result, 'all players who purchased Save the World Founder's or Starter Packs (including updates) and played Save the World on macOS from 17/9/2019 to 17/9/2020' will be refunded. This announcement comes shortly after Apple stated in a legal filing that Epic's actions were a thinly veiled attempt to revive Fortnite, citing Google Trends data showing a 70% decrease in player interest last year.
