The Taiwan-based contract manufacturer has plans to build a factory in India to produce Apple products in the near future.

As reported, Foxconn will invest over $200 million in a new AirPods assembly plant in Telangana state, southern India. Construction of the facility is expected to commence in the second half of this year, with production slated to begin by the end of 2024.
Foxconn officials have reportedly debated internally for several months on whether to assemble AirPods due to relatively low profit margins. However, they ultimately decided to proceed with the agreement to 'strengthen commitments' with Apple.
According to one source in the report, the decision to construct a manufacturing plant in India was at the request of Apple. Besides the Telangana facility, Foxconn is said to be planning to increase investments in India to manufacture , electric vehicles, and semiconductors.
Unclear which AirPods models will be manufactured by Foxconn in the near future, but they are likely to feature USB-C ports instead of Lightning, as Apple is reportedly planning to introduce models with this new connector port.
