The management board of Ngoc Son Temple, Hanoi, has prepared 100 sets of Ao Dai outfits for visitors who are not appropriately dressed to borrow free of charge when visiting this historical site.
Free Ao Dai Rental for Visitors at Ngoc Son Temple

All visitors who are not appropriately dressed when visiting Ngoc Son Temple historical site will be reminded by staff and offered a free Ao Dai outfit to borrow before entering the temple.
In a conversation with us, Mr. Nguyen Duc Vuong, head of the Ngoc Son Temple heritage management department, stated that in response to the public etiquette rules in the city, the heritage management board has prepared 100 Ao Dai outfits for visitors to borrow when visiting the temple.
Mr. Vuong also added that the Ao Dai outfits for visitors are completely free to borrow. It is up to the visitors if they want to provide personal identification as a deposit when borrowing the outfit.
Mr. Vuong mentioned, “We have also sent a letter to travel companies reminding their tourists to dress modestly when visiting heritage sites, especially Ngoc Son Temple.”
According to our observation on April 24th, many tourists visiting Ngoc Son Temple are not appropriately dressed, especially foreign tourists. After purchasing tickets, they will be reminded by staff to borrow Ao Dai at the entrance to wear before entering the temple.
Staff members handling this task mentioned that every two days, the Ao Dai outfits are washed and provided to tourists. All tourists who have borrowed them have shown happiness and support for this initiative. In addition to deploying staff members at both ends of The Huc Bridge, there is also a sign at the ticket counter reminding tourists to borrow and return the outfits.
Furthermore, the management board plans to install large signs in both Vietnamese and English languages at the temple's entrance to remind tourists.
