Lately, heavy rainfall has caused significant flooding on the streets, in some places reaching knee-high levels. Whenever I read news articles about flooded streets, I notice some individuals opting to walk barefoot to avoid damaging their shoes. My advice is for everyone to keep their shoes on, just as they normally would.

During floods, it's impossible to know what lies beneath the water's surface—it could be nails, broken glass, or even discarded syringes. If we happen to step on these hazards barefoot, the cost of vaccinations or medications would far exceed the price of drying wet shoes for a day or two. Shoes are designed to protect our feet, and wet shoes can easily be washed and dried within 1-2 days. Remember, folks, never take off your shoes in flooded areas!

Protecting your shoes is simple—just buy some shoe covers to keep in your car trunk. When you need them, they'll be ready to use. But if you happen to not have any covers, well, no big deal, your feet are more important than your shoes anyway!
