Fun Comparison: VinFast VF Wild vs Tesla Cybertruck
There's a saying that any comparison is like comparing apples to oranges, and that holds true in this comparison. However, if we look at one aspect, which is the community's interest in it, then VinFast VF Wild and Tesla Cybertruck naturally have some similarities. So, let's compare between a commercially available yet quirky-looking vehicle and a concept car with a futuristic appearance. Which one do you prefer? Let's dive in.As a concept car, currently, everything VinFast wants to showcase about the VF Wild is the most glamorous appearance possible. Of course, there's no guarantee that the commercial version of VF Wild (if any) will have the same appearance and features as the concept VinFast displayed at CES. Therefore, we should probably only discuss the appearance, the perception of these two vehicles. Overall, VinFast VF Wild and Tesla Cybertruck can be said to represent two completely different design philosophies. VinFast VF Wild looks futuristic, modern, but it still retains some essence of what we imagine a pickup truck to be. As for the Cybertruck, it seems to step out of a science fiction movie more.
From the front, the VinFast VF Wild makes a strong impression with its vertically running position lights along the hood's edge, forming the company's V logo. This design, although familiar from other VinFast models, appears slightly more angular and robust on the VF Wild. Additionally, the large silver-painted front bumper adds to its imposing look. In contrast, the Tesla Cybertruck boasts a completely smooth and sleek front end. It features simpler daytime running LED lights and its main lighting system is concealed beneath the boundary of the front bumper and the vehicle's nose.Using cameras to replace side mirrors is a feature many luxury car manufacturers have implemented for their flagship models. However, in the United States, this technology has not yet been approved for road use. Consequently, the original design of the Tesla Cybertruck featured completely flat sides, seemingly utilizing cameras in place of traditional mirrors. However, for the commercial version, conventional side mirrors are mandatory. Observing from images, the A-pillar of the Tesla Cybertruck seems slightly thicker compared to that of the VinFast VF Wild. The rear design of the VinFast VF Wild harmonizes with its front styling, featuring V-shaped LED taillights and a protruding rear bumper, giving it a rugged appearance. In contrast, the Tesla Cybertruck has a straight-cut rear with an outward protruding bumper and a continuous strip of impressive taillights. Additionally, the Cybertruck comes equipped with a retractable cargo bed cover, while the VF Wild showcased at the exhibition does not feature a bed cover. The interior of the VinFast VF Wild exudes opulence and modernity with its array of screens, buttons, and ambient lighting for the steering wheel. Overall, the interior design of this concept model deviates somewhat from VinFast's current interior design style, which tends to be more minimalist, featuring fewer buttons and larger screens. In contrast, Tesla's Cybertruck boasts a more simplistic cabin, highlighted by a large central screen for controlling everything and a steering wheel designed with top and bottom cuts. The Cybertruck, being a commercially available electric pickup, comes as no surprise equipped with a charging port in this wheel well area. Its design, unlike any other vehicle humanity has witnessed before, seems to draw inspiration from the aerospace field, a pursuit also echoed by Musk at SpaceX. At the Texas Gigafactory, the production capacity for this vehicle currently stands at 125,000 units per year, with expectations to increase to 250,000 units per year after 2025. Meanwhile, the commercialization plan for the VinFast VF Wild remains uncertain.
