Unlike major Android phones or Windows Always Connected PCs, Google's Chromebook lineup is supported by Chrome OS. Delving deep into the Chrome OS codebase, XDA developers have unearthed clues suggesting future Chromebooks could integrate the Snapdragon 845 chip. Not long ago, there were indications that Windows 10 PCs running on Snapdragon 845 would debut in the latter half of next year. Hence, the prospect of Chromebooks with Snapdragon 845 isn't entirely surprising.
Future Chromebooks may adopt Snapdragon 845 chips
Researchers at XDA have recently discovered that there have been 2 commitments added to the Chrome OS codebase. The first commitment was added to a new board called Cheza, but no information about Cheza's specifics or its operations was provided. The second commitment indicates that Cheza will be the reference device powered by Snapdragon 845.
In terms of performance and power consumption, Snapdragon 845 will be suitable for Chromebooks by providing a powerful yet energy-efficient chip to run the device.

Alongside that, there are also some hurdles when using Snapdragon processors. Firstly, there needs to be necessary drivers to ensure the processor operates correctly. Last year, two Google employees blamed “Qualcomm's reluctance with open source and Linux driver support.” However, it seems driver issues are being sorted out.
Snapdragon 845 is poised to be an excellent processor for Chromebooks, as this product line aims to balance performance and battery life while maintaining reasonable prices. Thanks to the 'light' nature of Chrome OS, Chromebook batteries last longer than traditional laptops.
The question remains unanswered: who will develop Chromebooks in the future that can use Snapdragon 845 chips, and which market ecosystem will they fit into? Aside from Pixelbook, Chromebooks target the sub-$500 market, so it will be challenging if Snapdragon 845 Chromebooks aim for higher markets.
Not to mention, Samsung is also a formidable competitor in this market. Samsung produces some of the best Chromebook models on the market and has more experience working with Snapdragon on the Galaxy S smartphone lineup.
Chromebooks, or rather devices running the Chrome OS in the future, may utilize Snapdragon 845 chips, while today's Windows 10 operating system also receives other exciting news. From now on, Windows 10 users can watch Netflix in 4K and HDR for the most incredible, true-to-life image quality.
