After a lengthy wait, you can now import photos directly from an SD or USB card into the iOS version of Lightroom. Previously, users had to transfer photos to the camera roll before copying them to the app's library. This process doubled the storage space needed for photos, requiring an additional step of going back to the camera roll and deleting the photos. With the new workflow revealed on Adobe's YouTube channel today, you can get hands-on with your work and edit your projects much faster.
Adobe Lightroom Direct Photo Import: Coming Soon
- Download Lightroom for iPhone.
- Download Lightroom for Android.
When you plug in an SD card or USB into your Apple device (via a dongle, of course), Lightroom will automatically detect the photos. You can choose to import each file individually or transfer all of them into your library. Once all the photos have been transferred into the Lightroom library, the app will prompt you if you want to delete the source files. The most accurate answer is 'no.' However, all images will be automatically backed up to Creative Cloud for redundancy if you have this feature enabled.
Discover the latest feature shared by Adobe, including some other exciting additions introduced earlier this month that creators are eagerly anticipating. During Adobe MAX, the company revealed an integrated streaming feature, automatic person insertion into images, dynamic image creation, and many more features. Although the exact release date of these updates is uncertain, the direct photo import feature into Lightroom is officially scheduled for later this year.
