On March 15, the mid-range smartphone market welcomed a new member from Samsung - the Galaxy A34 5G. This product not only boasts an attractive design but also features a well-invested battery, camera, and especially performance. So how strong is the performance of the Galaxy A34 5G? Does the Galaxy A34 5G deliver smooth gaming experiences? Let's evaluate the performance of the Galaxy A34 5G to understand the power of this smartphone!

Galaxy A34 5G Stands Out with Dimensity 1080 Configuration

Before diving into the details, let's summarize the specifications of the Galaxy A34 5G for your reference!

• Display: 6.6-inch size, Super AMOLED panel, Full HD+ resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate.
• CPU: Dimensity 1080.
• RAM: 8 GB.
• Internal Storage: 128 GB or 256 GB.
• Rear Camera: 48 MP + 8 MP + 5 MP.
• Front Camera: 13 MP.
• Battery: 5,000 mAh, supports 25 W fast charging.

As seen above, the Galaxy A34 5G derives its performance from the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset. This is MediaTek's latest 5G chipset manufactured on an advanced 6nm process, featuring an octa-core CPU, including 2 Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.6GHz and 6 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2GHz, combined with an ARM Mali-G68 GPU. As a result, this phone handles common tasks like browsing Facebook, watching YouTube, reading news smoothly, and even gaming.

To support the Dimensity 1080 chipset, Samsung equips the Galaxy A34 5G with 8 GB of RAM and up to 8 GB of virtual RAM. Therefore, the Galaxy A34 5G has a total of 16 GB of RAM, allowing us to multitask multiple apps and tasks simultaneously.

Without further ado, let's assess the performance of the Galaxy A34 5G to see if this phone is any good!

Performance Evaluation of Galaxy A34 5G

To give you an idea of the power of the Dimensity 1080 on the Galaxy A34 5G, we'll use three familiar benchmarking software: Geekbench 6, 3DMark, PCMark, under the following specific conditions:

• The device's battery must be between 90 - 100% (battery below 90% may affect the device's performance and results).
• Do not charge the battery while benchmarking.
• Perform 3 consecutive benchmarks and take the average result after 3 runs.

In the first 2 applications, GeekBench 6 and PCMark, I found that the Galaxy A34 5G achieved relatively good results for a smartphone equipped with the Dimensity 1080. Specifically:

- GeekBench 6:

• Single-core/multi-core score: 1,035 points/2,520 points.
• GPU Compute (graphics score): 2,397 points.

- PCMark: 11,707 points.

Let's move on to the next test, 3DMark Wild Life, to check the Galaxy A34 5G's ability to handle light graphics. The total score I obtained in this test is 2,277 with FPS fluctuating around 13.60. These numbers are slightly more impressive than some other competitors in the same segment. I was surprised by the power consumption on the Galaxy A34 5G as the device maintained 100% battery level, and the temperature remained at 31°C.

Finally, the most demanding test, 3DMark Wild Life Stress Test. For those who don't know, this test will automatically repeat 20 times to check the stability of the phone when performing heavy tasks like video editing, gaming, etc. You can see the results below and pay attention to help me with the Stability section!

As you can see from the results above, the Galaxy A34 5G achieved almost perfect stability at 99.7%. Additionally, the difference between the highest loop score and the lowest loop score is only 7 points (2,316 - 2,309 = 7 points). Moreover, the battery life of the Galaxy A34 5G only decreased by 5% (96% - 91%) and the temperature increased by 2 degrees Celsius (33°C - 35°C). All of these indicate that the Galaxy A34 5G has been extremely well optimized with the Dimensity 1080.

Through performance benchmarking, I can confidently affirm that the Galaxy A34 5G's performance is excellent for serving users' daily tasks. But what about gaming? Can the Galaxy A34 5G maintain its performance during gaming? Let's find out!

Galaxy A34 5G performs well in gaming without overheating

In this section, I'll use the Galaxy A34 5G to play four popular games: Arena of Valor, League of Legends: Speed War, PUBG Mobile, and Call Of Duty Mobile. Assisting me in this test is the PerfDog app, and I'll provide detailed results here for your reference.

• Arena of Valor

Moving on to the highly popular game, Arena of Valor, I can set the graphics to nearly the highest level on the Galaxy A34 5G.

As expected, the Galaxy A34 5G delivers an incredibly smooth Arena of Valor experience with an average FPS of 61.2. All movements, skill casts, quick item purchases, and team fights are handled well by the device, with minimal to no lag.

• Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Moving on to a strategic MOBA title, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. In this game, all graphics settings are pushed to the maximum, even though I can only adjust the frame rate to 60 FPS.

In real-world testing, the average speed I obtained on the Galaxy A34 5G was only 45.6 FPS. Additionally, due to the maximum graphics settings, the device heats up quickly, and lagging and frame drops occur more frequently. This indicates that the graphics settings are somewhat too demanding for the Galaxy A34 5G, so I suggest reducing them slightly for the smoothest gaming experience!

• PUBG Mobile

Next up is the famous Battle Royale game - PUBG Mobile. I've set the game graphics to Smooth and the frame rate to Extreme for the smoothest experience on the Galaxy A34 5G. If you want better visuals, you can choose HD, sacrificing the frame rate to just Ultra. Therefore, adjust the settings according to your needs.

During gaming sessions, I found that the Galaxy A34 5G provides a smooth experience for the first 15 minutes or so. However, after playing a bit longer, occasional stuttering and frame drops occur, but not too frequently, so players can still confidently play through the entire match. This is also reflected in the average FPS of 58.1. The in-game visuals remain beautiful, vibrant, and detailed, consistent with the settings I adjusted.

• Call Of Duty Mobile

For the final game, Call Of Duty Mobile, I set the frame rate to Maximum (equivalent to 60 FPS), but sacrificed the in-game visuals to Low. Alternatively, players can push the graphics to High, but the frame rate will decrease to Very High (around 40 FPS).

Despite setting the in-game frame rate to Maximum, the average FPS measured is 47.3. This is also evident in the gameplay video below, where stuttering occurs quite frequently throughout the match. Additionally, the in-game visuals are only at a decent level; observant players may notice some jagged edges, which are difficult to avoid when the image quality is set to Low.

Summing up this real gaming experience, I find that the Galaxy A34 5G can handle games decently with the graphics settings. However, during my 15 - 30 minute gaming sessions, the device doesn't encounter overheating issues, just a slight warmth.

How long can the Galaxy A34 5G game continuously?

To answer this question, I will continue playing the same 4 games: Arena of Valor, PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile, and League of Legends: Speed War. The conditions of the test are as follows:

• Play a single game until the device runs out of battery.
• Set screen brightness to 100% and enable 120 Hz refresh rate.
• Turn on external speakers and set the volume to 50%.
• Enable WiFi and social media notifications.
• Do not enable power saving mode, adaptive screen, GPS, and Bluetooth.
• Start from 100% battery charge until it reaches 0%.

Here are the results obtained:

• League of Legends: Speed War: 5 hours 12 minutes.
• Call Of Duty Mobile: 5 hours 55 minutes.
• Arena of Valor: 6 hours 04 minutes
• PUBG Mobile: 6 hours 52 minutes.

As seen above, the continuous gaming time on the Galaxy A34 5G is quite impressive, with an average gaming time of 5 hours or more. Especially, Arena of Valor and PUBG Mobile are the two games with the highest usage time. I believe that if we reduce the harsh conditions of the test, the usage time provided by the Galaxy A34 5G will be even longer.

How much does the Galaxy A34 5G cost? Is it worth buying?
