Recent software updates for the Galaxy S10 bring a dedicated night mode with photo quality equivalent to or even surpassing the Google Pixel 3.
Although Google's Pixel series hasn't captured as much market share as Samsung and Apple, it boasts some superior advantages. One of the most impressive features of the Pixel 3/3 XL duo is the Night Sight mode. However, after a series of software updates, the night photography capabilities on the Galaxy S10 from Samsung have reached equivalent or even superior quality to Night Sight on the Pixel 3.
This insight comes from XDA Developers, who evaluated the improvement in the Galaxy S10 camera since its launch in March. Specifically, according to XDA, the software updates have brought many interesting camera enhancements to the Galaxy S10, improving overall image quality.

XDA notes that the Galaxy S10 wasn't the top camera smartphone in the market at its launch, even though Samsung equipped it with three rear cameras. In reality, besides adding an extra camera, the Galaxy S10 had minimal hardware improvements to its camera and lacked a dedicated night mode.
However, Samsung addressed this deficiency with a May update for international Galaxy S10 models, producing astonishing results. Imgur user melburnian uploaded a photo album comparing night photography between the Google Pixel 3 and Samsung Galaxy S10 using their respective night modes. Check out the images below to witness the impressive night photography capabilities of the Galaxy S10, even when directly compared to the night photography king, Pixel 3.

Based on melburnian's photos and XDA's review, it's apparent that the Night Mode on the Samsung Galaxy S10 is on par with Google Pixel 3's Night Sight. Unfortunately, the May update is currently only available for Galaxy S10 models using the Exynos chip, while those with the Snapdragon version will have to wait a bit longer.
