This feature will debut in South Korea through the Samsung Health Monitor app starting early next year.
Galaxy Watch Line to Soon Incorporate Sleep Apnea Detection FeatureFor those unaware, sleep apnea is a common yet serious condition causing individuals to stop breathing during sleep. It can lead to health issues such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. However, many affected individuals may be unaware of their condition.
Samsung's new sleep apnea feature aims to help individuals identify their symptoms early. To utilize this feature, users will need to track their sleep twice over a 10-day period, each time for over 4 hours. Subsequently, the watch will provide an estimate of the Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI), a measure of the severity of sleep apnea.
If users have a high AHI score, the watch will advise them to consult a doctor for further evaluation and treatment. Samsung's new sleep apnea feature is a valuable addition to the Galaxy Watch line, helping comprehensively safeguard user health.
