(Homeland) - GAM and Levi left a lasting impression at Worlds 2022 despite being eliminated after the Group Stage.
In the early hours of October 16 (Vietnam time), the second leg matches of Group C took place. This group was particularly noteworthy as it featured the representative of Vietnam - GAM Esports (GAM). Despite GAM's first match in the second leg taking place quite early, the VCS community still paid close attention. The reason being that every GAM match at this point was likened to a final.
Despite the defeat against Rogue (RGE), GAM's chances of advancing were extremely slim. However, the representatives of League of Legends (LoL) Vietnam did not lose heart but instead contributed to a match that can be described as the most dramatic and captivating at the Worlds 2022 Finals. Specifically, in the next match against TOP Esports (TES), GAM played impressively and secured their first (also the only) victory at Worlds 2022.
Although GAM ultimately couldn't advance, what the Vietnamese players achieved is highly commendable. Especially when, before the Group Stage matches, TES was considered a top contender for the championship, not JD Gaming or Royal Never Give Up. This is because TES has a lineup of experienced players, including 2 Worlds champions - JackeyLove and Tian.
GAM's performance is also appreciated by the international LoL community for bringing one of the most impressive matches at Worlds 2022. According to the international community, despite returning to Worlds after a very long period, GAM delivered one of the most emotional matches in the history of LoL.
Especially, the audience doesn't forget to send their gratitude to Levi for his outstanding performances, starting from the creative choice of the champion Karthus. Many regret the time Levi spent with 100Thieves, as this LCS team failed to fully capitalize on the talent of the Vietnamese Jungler. Meanwhile, the international audience also hopes that in the future, VCS will receive even more investment to truly have the opportunity to flourish.
GAM has completed its season with a performance at Worlds 2022 that is not exceptionally good. However, this should not overshadow the efforts of the players. Fans can trust that Worlds 2022 will be a valuable learning experience for the GAM team to reflect on and strive even harder in the upcoming seasons.
