GAM's team shares noteworthy insights during the MSI 2023 kick-off.
On the afternoon of April 27th at VNG Campus, District 7 (Ho Chi Minh City), the opening ceremony of GAM Esports team, part of the League of Legends (LMHT) discipline, took place. This opening ceremony was organized by GAM, in collaboration with sponsors, to prepare for the upcoming MSI 2023 journey in London, United Kingdom.
In the VCS Spring 2023 season, GAM showcased exceptional dominance by clinching the championship with a flawless record (17 wins - 0 losses). This marks GAM's 8th trophy and the 3rd consecutive time the team has claimed the top spot domestically. This achievement is deemed 'priceless' in the history of Vietnamese LMHT.
Thanks to winning the VCS Spring 2023 championship, GAM becomes Vietnam's representative at MSI 2023, a tournament gathering the strongest LMHT teams worldwide. Here, the reigning VCS champions are placed in Group A for the group stage alongside Golden Guardians (North America's runner-up), Bilibili Gaming (China's runner-up), and Rainbow7 (Latin America's champion).
According to many opinions, this group stage poses significant challenges for GAM. In a series of BO3 matches, GAM's chances of creating a miracle like the one against Top Esports at Worlds 2022 are slim. The most optimistic fans perhaps only hope that GAM can defeat GG and secure at least one victory against BLG (if they face each other).
Coach Hankay shares: 'GAM won the VCS finals against SBTC Esports quite comfortably due to our preparation and playing to our strengths. For this MSI, we will prepare even more, both in terms of expertise and physical and mental readiness. We are confident of victory. We believe this is the strongest version of GAM ever.'
CEO TK Nguyen also holds high expectations: 'I am very confident because the team has gained a lot of experience in the 2022 World Championship. The entire team has developed and improved in many aspects. I know many people underestimate Vietnamese teams, and I believe GAM will reach the top 6, even the top 4. GAM already possesses the skills, and we have prepared extensively in terms of mentality and confidence.'
Regarding the players, Levi appears more cautious: 'At MSI 2017, GAM was an unknown factor. Opponents knew nothing about us. Thanks to that, we made a name for ourselves, attracting more attention from teams worldwide. Now, they are much stronger and will prepare many more strategies to face GAM. Therefore, this MSI will be much more challenging.'
GAM's journey at MSI 2023 will undoubtedly face numerous challenges. But with the support of home fans and the team's collective effort, there is every reason to believe GAM will once again bring surprises to the international LoL community as they return to MSI after a long hiatus.
