In a recent letter, the producers of Final Fantasy 14 have confirmed that the game will not incorporate NFT elements as previously rumored
The NFT debate has become the focal point of the gaming industry. Despite this, many publishers and game development teams still seem eager to delve into this promising field due to its potential benefits.

In a letter released earlier this year, Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda announced that the company would invest in NFTs and virtual asset transactions, unlike Ubisoft's efforts to introduce Ubisoft Quartz tokens for players. Fans of Final Fantasy 14 have been anxiously concerned about this possibly leading to the incorporation of NFT mechanisms into the game, a move that many gamers fear could lead to the collapse of the gaming world as a whole.
Although Naoki Yoshida does not represent Square Enix, he and his team confirmed in their latest letter from the Producer livestream: Final Fantasy 14 will not adopt NFT mechanics into gameplay in any form. Despite the current challenges the game faces, fans can be assured that they will still have access to their favorite game in a traditional manner.

During the live stream, Naoki Yoshida mentioned Matsuda's desire to integrate NFTs into Square Enix's games. However, he understood the sensitive nature of the topic and felt the need to issue a clear statement regarding Final Fantasy 14. Yoshida emphasized that the game's focus is entirely unrelated to integrating with NFT mechanisms.
The production team aims to enhance and refine the graphics of Final Fantasy 14 and its expansions this year, so they are focused on other matters rather than NFTs. Furthermore, with resources allocated within the Trust system, Endwalker's patches will make the game more accessible to those who are hesitant about trying it out.
While there may be nothing stopping the development of NFTs in the future, especially as major gaming names like Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, or Square Enix show interest in its potential, traditional games will surely continue to have a solid foothold for many years to come.
