In the fierce competition for in-game items, many are willing to splash out hefty amounts to acquire their favorite skins.
A month ago, gamers worldwide were in a frenzy when a CS:GO skin was sold for $160,000 (approximately 3.7 billion VND) - a record-breaking figure. This amount rivals the cost of a mid-range apartment or a luxury car. Yet, it was all spent on a skin for the AK-47 gun in the CS:GO game.

The AK-47 skin, priced at nearly 4 billion, belongs to the Wild Lotus AK-47 gun. Essentially, it's not an excessively rare skin, and its basic price hovers at a few thousand dollars on the market. However, this special edition comes with four valuable stickers, compelling players to fork out a substantial sum to own it.
This figure isn't a record because recently, another CS:GO gamer shelled out over $400,000 for a game item.

An anonymous gamer from China spent over $400,000 (more than 9 billion VND) on an AK-47 skin, making it the most expensive gun in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) history and even in the history of electronic gaming.
According to a tweet by zipL - a CS:GO skin trader, he revealed brokering a deal between the seller 'Luksusbums' and an anonymous Chinese buyer in April. The transaction involved two items: a Blue Gem Karambit knife skin sold for $100,000, and the other was an AK-47 StatTrak Tier 1 Case Hardened with Blue Gem pattern along with 4 Titan Holo Katowice 2014 skins worth over $400,000. The combined value of these items exceeded $500,000, finalized on April 16.
Although Valve has made various moves to restrict skin transactions in its game, this hasn't deterred gamers. Many transactions are still conducted on external websites.

Spending tens of millions of dong on virtual items in games is becoming increasingly common among Vietnamese gamers. In an interview, H.Q (23, Hanoi), a longtime player of multiple games, shared that he spends 8-10 million dong each month on in-game items. This expenditure doesn't include purchases from online forums.
There was a time when he and his friend splurged 70 million dong on a CS:GO virtual item. During promotional events, this young man sometimes tops up nearly 20 million dong/month into the game.
Without a stable financial situation, the money spent undoubtedly leaves gamers struggling after their impulsive spending sprees.
