In the Preseason updates, Riot tends to introduce innovative changes and awaits feedback from the player community. These alterations may sometimes be permanent (like the Mythic item system) or require adjustments when the official season begins.
One of the most notable changes in the 2023 Preseason is in the Jungle position. In the new season, Riot will introduce the Spirit Beast system to replace the familiar jungle items, Frostfang and Skirmisher's Sabre. Furthermore, the removal of Punishment is also a significant change for the Jungle position ahead. However, the emergence of Spirit Beasts has enabled some champions to appear in the Summoner's Rift jungle. One such champion is Dr. Mundo.
One of the first pro players to experiment with Dr. Mundo for the Jungle position is Faker. Specifically, T1's Mid Laner has used this champion in a ranked match. With Dr. Mundo, Faker managed to clear the jungle camps in just 1 minute and 34 seconds. This result is considered extremely fast, even compared to pure Jungle role champions in League of Legends (LoL).
However, recently, a player has demonstrated that Dr. Mundo can jungle even faster. This player conducted a test video, and the results astonished LoL fans: Dr. Mundo cleared the entire jungle camp in just 1 minute and 16 seconds.
According to observations, this player has excelled in clearing jungle camps efficiently and utilizing appropriate skills to optimize their time. Despite Punishment's reduced restorative capabilities, Dr. Mundo inherently possesses excellent healing abilities. Additionally, Stormraider's Surge aids this champion in faster movement and inflicting more damage on jungle monsters.
Through experiments conducted by Faker himself and a random player, Dr. Mundo is demonstrating his strength in the Jungle position during the Preseason. However, a minute and sixteen seconds is excessively fast. It's highly likely that in the future, Riot will make adjustments related to this champion to better align Dr. Mundo with the new position without compromising the balance of League of Legends.
