On 10/11, Gears 5 will receive a monumental campaign update, and for those who own an Xbox Series X|S, they'll receive a significant technical update. But that's not all; Gears Tactics is also launching, and Operation 5 drops on 11/17. Finally, the Gears 5 Hivebusters DLC pack hits shelves this December.

Here's what you'll find in the Gears 5 update:
The Legendary Dave Bautista Makes an Appearance
Professional wrestler Dave Bautista joins Gears 5. A huge fan of Gears of War and Marcus Fenix, Bautista's inclusion was a natural fit. Working closely with him, The Coalition faithfully captured his voice for Marcus's dialogue while meticulously recreating his appearance. The result? Bautista features prominently throughout the campaign, both in gameplay and cinematic moments. For those longing for that classic Gears feel, the original Marcus is still there.
Weapon Skins and Campaign Characters
Since its release, Gears 5 developers have added a plethora of new character and weapon skins. Up until now, these skins have been exclusive to Multiplayer, but not anymore. Starting November 10th, you'll be able to embody your favorite characters with their preferred weapons in the campaign.
Gears 5 Ups the Challenge Ante
Two new challenges have been introduced to Gears 5, and the infamous Inconceivable Mode makes its eerie return. This is the toughest version of Gears 5 yet, pushing you to your limits.
If that's not enough, the Ironman Mode is for you. Simply put, complete the campaign without dying on any difficulty. And for achievement hunters, Gears 5 has added 5 new achievements (95 Gamerscore):
- Ironed Out: Complete all chapters in Ironman Mode with Experienced difficulty or above - 50 points.
- That's Inconceivable!: Complete all chapters in Inconceivable Mode - 30 points.
- Showin' a little skin: Complete a chapter of the Campaign while using a custom skin - 5 points.
- Just showing it off: Defeat 10 enemies using a weapon with a custom skin - 5 points.
- Batista Bomb: Complete all chapters in Act 1 with Bautista activated as Marcus - 5 points.
New Mutators on the Block
One of the biggest game updates includes the addition of 16 Mutators that will alter the interface, difficulty, and experience of the Campaign in Gears 5. Developers provide you with the option to select multiple Mutators at once.
Gears 5 Technical Update on Xbox Series X|S
The power of Xbox Series X|S means Gears 5 will be more responsive and visually stunning than ever. Below is an overview of the technical upgrades you can expect in Gears 5 on your new Xbox.

- Ultra-HD PC Texture Pack (exclusive to Series X).
- 60 FPS scenes (Series X only) for seamless blending of gameplay and cinematic elements.
- 120 FPS in Versus.
- Screen Space Global Illumination for next-level lighting effects.
- Contact Shadows for precise pixel-level shading.
- 4x faster load times.
- Over 50% more particles than PC Ultra.
- Dynamic Latency Input (DLI) for improved responsiveness.
