Throughout the season, Gen.G showcased a completely different side of themselves.
Facing T1 in the LCK Spring 2023 finals, Gen.G was the underdog. Their performance from Worlds 2022 to their victory over KT Rolster had been lackluster, and they had previously lost convincingly to T1 in both group stages and the winners' bracket final. A victory for T1 was widely anticipated.

Against all odds, Gen.G excelled remarkably, especially Doran, the so-called 'weak link', who shut down Zeus in the first two games of the BO5 series and collaborated seamlessly with Chovy to decimate T1 in team fights. Despite stumbling in game three, he bounced back in game four.
Moreover, Chovy's performance was impressive, dispelling the myth of his 'stage fright' in crucial matches. Rookie Peyz, in his first LCK final, reassured Gen.G fans with his performance, notably not dying once in game one, even without Ruler on the team.

Doran's unrecognizable transformation left even Gen.G's fans in disbelief. On numerous forums, the consensus was that Doran's exceptional play laid the groundwork for a convincing victory over T1, securing Gen.G's championship title once more.
- 'Doran's transformation was unreal, felt like we were watching Looper or CuVee in his prime.'
- 'This Gen.G is unrecognizable, was Ruler secretly guiding Peyz via teamviewer or something?'
- 'T1 secures second place yet again.'
- 'Almost unbeaten in the group stage, breezed into the finals, and then a loss. T1 seems to follow this pattern, don't they?'
- 'Chovy must be overjoyed, winning back-to-back titles for the first time and leading Gen.G to their first MSI appearance.'

Gen.G's victory was well-deserved. However, it's hard not to feel for T1, who fought valiantly. Unfortunately, Faker and his teammates missed out on the title once more.
