Honkai Impact 3rd Discovers Anime Frieren Copycat
The Sousou no Frieren anime is based on the Frieren manga, known as The Undertaker in Vietnam. It has become a phenomenon in the global anime-manga community. This series brings together the best talents from MadHouse studio, delivering breathtaking frames to both fans of the original manga and those who appreciate fantastic anime visuals worldwide.

And perhaps some members of the team behind the Honkai Impact 3
rdmay have watched Sousou no Frieren. But instead of expressing their feelings towards the film in a normal way, they... copied some visually stunning segments from the Frieren anime into the introduction trailer for version 7.1 of Honkai Impact 3.
This incident quickly surfaced and evolved into a scandal. At this point, other anime fans only just realized that the trailer also shamelessly borrowed from Mushoku Tensei and Black Clover. After the copying fiasco, miHoYo remained silent but covertly tarnished all detected copied segments in the original trailer, subsequently replacing them with new images.

In reality, the protagonist of this trailer, Griseo, also 'borrows' the luminous sword concept from the Jedi (and Sith Lords) in Star Wars. It remains unclear whether Disney was amused by this revelation, but it's undeniably a bold move by miHoYo, as the entertainment giant takes copyright matters very seriously.
miHoYo reusing images and ideas from other works is not a rare occurrence. Even their immensely popular game, Genshin Impact, draws many ideas from Zelda. Or more recently, Honkai: Star Rail players enthusiastically noted Topaz's trailer featuring elements reminiscent of Pokemon and a touch of Leonardo Di Caprio's cup-raising scene in The Great Gatsby. However, this time it's a thorough 'A to Z' copy, prompting players to scrutinize what miHoYo will create in the future.

Concerning Genshin Impact, this incident is smaller but no less serious. Specifically, it all stems from the quest involving the Hydro Archon Furina, known as the “Tiny Water Spirit.” Players were dissatisfied with the dialogue in this quest, criticizing Paimon and the Traveler for being derogatory, mocking Furina, a character greatly beloved by gamers after a captivating and emotional storyline quest.

In China, expressing their displeasure with the Traveler and Paimon's attitude towards Furina, players have replaced titles like 'Traveler' or 'main character' with 'royal cat' (golden fur). This sarcastic term has a long history, originating from some Japanese dating simulation games where characters with yellow hair often... cuckold the main character.
According to the author's perception, indeed, Paimon's dialogues in this quest are quite 'chaotic,' but the tone of voice might be 'more sinful' than the actual content of the lines. This could be due to a lack of communication between the game development team, the translation team, and the voice actors, a recurring issue in the past. Sometimes leading to quite serious problems like Childe and Zhongli's dialogues in patch 1.1 or the gender of Thao Thanh Kusanali.

Fortunately, in most cases, the issues are relatively minor and can be easily rectified. For example, the English voice actor for Kaveh mentioned not knowing that Mehrak is just a handbag and used a rather strained voice in Mehrak's dialogues. Or the voice actor for Neuvillette requested a re-recording of all the Water Dragon's lines after completing the Ma Thanh quest in patch 4.0, discovering the character's personality.
