The Genshin Impact community is buzzing with debates over whether Ayato should join forces with the National Team.
Kamisato Ayato, the latest 5-star character in Genshin Impact, was introduced just a day ago with the 2.6 update. Sporting skills reminiscent of Childe, Ayato wields Hydro abilities, with his Elemental Skill (E) allowing him to continuously deal Hydro damage over a certain period.

One of the heated topics among the Genshin Impact community is whether Ayato can synergize with the 'national team' like Childe or not.
An Overview of Kamisato Ayato's Abilities
Normal Attack: Executes up to 5 consecutive strikes.
Elemental Skill (E): Kamisato Style – Kyouka: Ayato moves and leaves behind Hydro Images, which explode and deal Hydro damage when enemies come near or when their duration ends.
In this state, Ayato unleashes rapid attacks, converting normal attack damage into Hydro damage (cannot be overridden by elemental buffs from Chongyun or Bennett).

Elemental Burst (Q): Inflicts Hydro damage in the surrounding area; simultaneously buffs normal attack damage for self or out-of-field characters.

As such, Ayato is a Hydro DPS, excelling at dealing primary damage with high attack speed. With fully buffed (E) skill, Ayato can execute up to 23 continuous strikes. The (E) skill duration is relatively short (6s), meaning Ayato relies on team composition to make use of downtime when skills are on cooldown.
Kamisato Ayato and the National Team?
Following Ayato's release, many players immediately tested this character alongside the 'national team', comprising Xiangling – Bennett, and Kazuha. Similar to Childe, Ayato can provide Hydro support while also serving as a high-DPS character, dealing significant damage through elemental reactions.

Moreover, thanks to his (E) skill having a lower cooldown compared to Childe, Ayato may have a better advantage with the National Team. Ayato's (Q) skill also lasts up to 18s, allowing players to continuously switch characters on the field to utilize Ayato's buffs and Hydro resonance, forming a complete rotation without any 'dead time' while characters' skills are on cooldown.

However, Ayato has a critical weakness in 'critical hits', as his Hydro application is inferior to Childe's, making vaporize reactions difficult. Ayato also cannot provide buffs as effectively as Mona, or serve as a strong sub DPS like Xingqiu. Ayato's strength with the National Team lies in his powerful AOE damage from his (Q) skill, thus requiring high and continuous elemental energy regeneration. Some players have proposed a solution to this issue by using the Emblem of Severed Fate artifact set.

Final Conclusion
The ideal team composition for Ayato remains an Electro-charged team with one or more Electro characters. However, this doesn't mean Ayato cannot fulfill his role in the National Team. Depending on the player's playstyle and team's purpose of use, Ayato may or may not be suitable when incorporated into the 'national team'.
