Creating Stunning Christmas Tree Decorations for the Festive Night
Materials Needed
For this yarn Christmas tree decoration, you'll need the following materials:
- Yarn or threads in your preferred colors: you can even use scrap yarn
- Glue
- A thin foam sheet: you can repurpose foam food containers
- Toothpicks or skewers
- Paper template: choose a favorite symbol and print it to the desired size, then cut out the printed shape to use as a template
Instructions:
Step 1: Pour glue into a small container. Dip the yarn (enough to cover the desired image) into the glue. Use toothpicks to press and ensure the yarn absorbs the glue evenly.
Step 2: Place the paper template on the thin foam sheet and pin toothpicks at the outer anchor points of the template. For a star image, the anchor points are the sharp tips of the star's arms and the innermost points of the intersecting corners. For curved images, you may need to pin more toothpicks along the curve. Then remove the paper template, leaving behind a frame made of pinned toothpicks on the foam.
Step 3: Tie the end knot of the yarn onto a toothpick and pull the yarn to remove excess glue, if necessary, you may use your fingers to wipe off excess glue.
Step 4: Pin the end of the toothpick with the tied yarn to an anchor point on the toothpick frame pinned on the foam, thread the yarn along the toothpick sequence until it returns to its original position to create an outer yarn frame around the image.
Step 5: After creating the yarn frame, freely coil the yarn to densely fill the empty space inside the image, evenly spread and balance the yarn over the shape. Trim excess yarn and wait for the glue on the yarn to dry, then carefully detach the entire yarn image from the foam.
