If you've ever dreamed of setting foot in the land of Buddha, Nepal, and admiring the legendary Himalayas, don't hesitate anymore because traveling is very convenient, especially visa application. Nepal visa is very accessible for tourists, and you can complete the procedures quickly right at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, through visa on arrival.

There are two ways to obtain a visa to Nepal: at the airport or online;
Option 1: Obtain at the airport (visa on arrival )
Required preparations include:
- Passport valid for at least 6 months
- Nepal visa application form (available at Kathmandu airport immigration).
- One (01) passport-size photo, white background. If you don't have a photo, there are quick photo booths at the airport, charging 200 Nepalese Rupees.
- Presentation of round-trip air ticket, insurance, hotel booking in case if required.
Nepal does not grant visas at the border for citizens of the following countries: Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, Syria so you need to be mindful in case you have accompanying friends.

Costs and Time
- After filling out the entry form and paying the fee, within just 5-10 minutes you'll swiftly be granted a visa, which can be single or multiple entry, depending on your needs.
- Visa fee for 15 days is 25 USD, 30 days is 40 USD, and 90 days is 100 USD.
Additionally, you can extend your visa up to 150 days at the Immigration Office in Kathmandu or Pokhara. The fee for 15 days extension is 30 USD plus 2 USD/day for subsequent days. You need to bring your passport, extension fee, one photo, and an extension application form to complete the process.
The preferred currency for fee payment is USD, but you can also pay with EUR, CHF, GBP, AUD, CAD, HKD, SGD, JPY.
Option 2: Apply for visa online
Since 2014, you can also apply for a visa online up to 15 days before arriving in Nepal. Just provide your hotel address and upload a passport photo online, then submit the form, print the receipt, bring it to the airport along with your passport and visa fee, saving time waiting in queues.

Things to Note
- Bring 4-5 passport photos for visa registration and mountaineering permits, other necessary procedures if required.
- Have a few copies of your passport handy for travel, in case of passport loss in unfamiliar places.
- There are currency exchange counters at Kathmandu airport, but you should only exchange a small amount for taxi fare. In Thamel, the center of Kathmandu, you'll get better rates for currency exchange.
