Many Western tourists offer money to the guards of the Sathorn Unique Tower in Bangkok to gain access to explore its interior.
'Ghost Tower' Bangkok - a forbidden place where visitors persist in finding ways to enter
The Sathorn Unique Tower (also known as Ghost Tower) is a 185m abandoned skyscraper in the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. Everything here is decayed and dilapidated. Recently, this building has attracted a large number of visitors, especially after many travel bloggers visited and posted videos.
Infiltrating this old and deteriorating structure is illegal; the building owner has erected fences and stationed guards to prevent tourists from entering. Nevertheless, many remain undeterred. They plead with the guards for entry or find ways to trespass.
Ian Ryan, a 22-year-old American, is one of those tourists. He came here with his girlfriend Adriana Ivkovic to shoot videos for his travel blog, The Other Side.

During their first visit to the 'Ghost Tower', the couple faced resistance from the guards. They were asked to leave or face trouble with the police. Later, Ryan gave the guard 100 baht ($3) to access the ground floor and basement. Two days later, he returned and paid the guard an additional 600 baht ($20) to reach the top floor.
Ryan had to climb 47 floors, but the excitement of exploring the abandoned building like the 'Ghost Tower' left him thrilled. After posting a video online, Ryan received over 60 emails from other travelers asking for tips on entering the building.
Luca Grioni, a 24-year-old from Milan, Italy, was also fascinated by this abandoned tower. Luca described exploring this site as thrilling, similar to skydiving and landing safely.

Tyler Cave, 26, from Canada, was compelled to visit by the spooky stories told by locals about this building. 'Discovering something different from daily life is very exciting. It makes me curious and eager to continue exploring abandoned houses,' Tyler said. Besides the Sathorn Unique Tower, the traveler also visited many other rumored haunted locations in Bali, Indonesia.
The Sathorn Unique Tower has been abandoned since 1997 due to the Asian financial crisis, despite being 80% complete at the time. Located in the city center, overlooking the Chao Phraya River, it has become one of the favorite spots for tourists on ghost tours after 21 years of abandonment.
There are many rumors surrounding the building. Many Bangkok locals believe it is haunted by the souls of the workers who died during its construction.
