How to Ghost Win XP Without CD Boot
To proceed with ghosting Windows XP without a CD boot, you need to download and install Norton Ghost on your computer (directly on the drive containing the operating system). You can download the latest version of Norton Ghost here: Download Norton Ghost
Step 1: Unzip and install the software.
Copy the downloaded Ghost software to drive C, then open the program by right-clicking and selecting Run as...
Step 2: A new window appears, Browse.... The default location for Win XP is drive C. Choose Install
After Install is complete, press any key to exit
Step 3: After successfully installing the software, set the boot menu timeout on your computer.
Press the Windows + R key combination, then type “sysdm.cpl” into the dialog box.
A new window appears, go to the Advanced tab, then click on Settings as shown.
In the two frames as shown below, set the option to 15 seconds. This is the time the system will display the boot menu at startup. Then press OK
Step 4: After setting up, restart the computer and choose Symantec Norton Ghost....
Step 5: Ghost Win as if using a CD
In the program interface, choose Local -->Partition --> select From Image
Select the partition to save the Ghost file and open the Ghost file
Opt for the hard drive partition for Ghosting.
Initiate the Win XP Ghosting process without the need for a bootable CD.
Upon completion, restart or shut down to reboot or power off your computer.
