The provincial government of Quy Chau is planning to refurbish a statue standing approximately 50 meters tall, with a head soaring 16 meters high to attract tourists.
Gigantic stone Buddha statue unearthed in China
This sculpture was hidden beneath a thick layer of vegetation, only discovered during a local government's fluorescence campaign in Xiashui village, Bach Van district, Quy Duong city. The statue is carved from a single rock mountain, with its body leaning against the mountain, according to CCTV.

There's a high likelihood that this will be the largest stone-carved Buddha statue in the world. The head of this larger-than-life Buddha statue is over 4 meters higher than the Leshan Giant Buddha in Sichuan, recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site in 1996. The origin of these two statues may share a common legend.
During a flood in Quy Duong, the two monks Hai Nang and Hai Thong arrived. The temple where they practiced meditation near Mount Lang Van (Sichuan, China), the confluence of the three rivers Dan Jiang, Dai Du, and Thanh Y in the southern part of Sichuan province in China, often experiences raging waters.
The master and disciples decided to embark on a journey to Tứ Xuyên to sculpt a grand statue on the Lăng Vân mountain, guarding the stretch of river ahead.
During that year, Master Hải Năng, weakened by age and hindered by inconvenient roads, chose to stay and carve a Buddha statue by the river in the Bạch Vân district. However, he passed away due to a serious illness, leaving the masterpiece unfinished, with one eye of the statue still untouched.

After a recent discovery, the Quý Châu authorities are planning to renovate the statue to attract tourists.
