Annual commemoration events will be alternately hosted by many participating countries. In 2023, the theme for this day is Defeat Plastic Pollution. It's an initiative to address pollution caused by excessive plastic waste through local programs and plans. Currently, Hoi An has implemented training programs and guidelines for the production process of recycled plastic products.
For World Environment Day, GreenHub and collaborative partners organize this event. GreenHub guides women working at Hanh Phuc Store, Cẩm Nam Ward, on developing recycled products from plastic waste.Additionally, in Hue, the Plastic Reduction Urban Contest was launched on February 23rd. This program aims to explore and promote projects that meet recycling criteria, reuse usable waste, and reduce the amount of waste in the environment. It helps people minimize and better manage the volume of nylon and plastic waste. The contest also identifies more environmentally friendly alternatives.
