Recently, Google announced the long-awaited feature launch on the Gmail app for iPadOS. Finally, Google's email application supports Split View mode, enabling simultaneous usage with other apps.
Download and install the Gmail app on your phone and computer:
Currently, you can drag and drop photos into an email from apps like Google Photos or the native Photos app. Another use case is to open an app to use as a reference document while composing an email or to open an app to take notes from the email you're reading.
This will also be useful with iOS 14, the latest OS version set to launch later this year. The feature update will actually allow you to run two instances of the same app in Split View mode, so you can do things like drag and drop content from this email to another email.
To enable multitasking on iPad, go to Settings > Home Screen & Dock > Multitasking and select Allow Multiple Apps. Then, swipe up from the bottom of the screen while the Gmail app is open to bring up the Dock. Next, you'll need to long-press the app you want to open and drag it to the left or right edge of the screen to open 2 apps simultaneously.
Google advises users to enable keyboard shortcuts for Gmail on iPad for higher efficiency while multitasking. This feature is currently available to all users. If you don't have a Gmail account yet, you can refer to creating a Gmail account here.
Good news for those who frequently work in low-light environments. Google rolls out dark mode for Sheets, Docs, and Slides on Android, helping reduce fatigue and eye strain when users use them at night.
