For most regular folks, TC Helicon might not ring a bell, and therefore, this Mic might go unnoticed by many.
TC Helicon is a renowned UK-based audio company specializing in sound equipment for Vocals and Guitars, catering to artists and music enthusiasts.
Lately, TC - Helicon has introduced a product line specifically for Broadcast, Podcast, and Content Creators called GO. In the Vietnamese market, GOXLR has been a top-selling USB Mixer for high-end gamers and streamers.

The GoXLR Mic was introduced towards the end of 2021 but officially launched in early 2022, targeting Streamers, Content Creators, and it's an incredibly interesting microphone.
Beautiful microphones are not rare, affordable ones are abundant, but finding an Affordable and Stylish mic from a reputable brand like TC - Helicon, that's where the GO-XLR Mic stands out this year.

Packaging and Unboxing

When you first unwrap the Go-XLR mic, it dazzles your eyes with an explosion of vibrant colors.

Except for the metallic rose gold ring, all other rings are made of plastic.
It comes with a pre-attached white Pop Filter.

If you take the mic off and hold it in your hand, it looks like this.

Appearance

Completely in a sleek white color with interchangeable colored rings for you to replace, adding a touch of personality.

It doesn't come with a Shockmount, and there's no option to purchase one separately either.

It features a mount for attaching to a stand or arm, and that's about it.

The colored ring section will have the letter X engraved on it.

Named GO-XLR, it utilizes an XLR port as part of its design.

I discovered that the Go-XLR mic can be easily disassembled for painting or even swapping out the Capsule for a different one (yes, you can do that 😆), quite nerve-wracking, actually.
It's like playing with Lego.

Go-XLR: Dynamic Microphone (Different from Condenser mics)

Go-XLR mic is a Dynamic Microphone, eliminating the need for an external power source.

Being a Dynamic Microphone, it excels in ambient noise rejection and noise reduction capabilities (check out the clip for a clearer audio experience).

Ultra-Low Sensitivity (-74dB): This mic boasts an incredibly low sensitivity, even surpassing the legendary Shure SM7B (-59dB). The low sensitivity proves to be a significant advantage for voice recording in radio, podcasts, or content creation, focusing on capturing sound within close proximity. Sounds from distances over 1m are virtually non-existent in the recording segment.

Sound Quality Resembling Electro Voice RE20: Its sound quality is quite reminiscent of the Electro Voice RE20 but with less bass and a brighter tone. You can easily boost the bass for post-production purposes.

Misleading Sound Tests by Some Other Youtubers

While watching other YouTubers, I discovered that the Go-XLR mic comes in a white variant with multiple colored rings.
However, some overseas YouTubers overlook the low sensitivity of the Go-XLR mic, pumping up the Gain excessively during their sound tests, resulting in noise issues (which they surprisingly praise).
In my sound test, knowing about the low sensitivity, I used it with the Yamaha AG06 Mark II Mixer, separating the Gain and Level Output. With just the right Gain and increased Level Output, the sound is clear, bright, beautiful, and completely noise-free, eliminating any unwanted interference.
The ideal setup for Go-XLR is to use it with the GOXLR mixer or Yamaha AG03/06 for preamp availability and separate Gain and Level Output controls.

Exclusively Selling Officially in Black in Vietnam

TC-Helicon officially distributes in Vietnam, and naturally, they sell the GO-XLR Mic, but only in black, not in white (no idea why).
The price ranges from 3.7 million to 4.2 million VND (depending on the dealer).
I got the white version from Sweetwater, initially purchased and later refunded due to a personal relationship.
If you buy audio equipment from Sweetwater, they often include candies and offer an additional one-year warranty add-on.
Hoping that Vietnam will soon have the official white variant because it's stunning.
