Chrome 89 set to enhance performance and consume less RAM on Win 10
PartitionAlloc-everywhere is expected to improve Chrome's operation on Windows 10. According to Chromium's commitment, support for PartitionAlloc-everywhere allows the browser to reduce RAM usage, load web pages faster, and enhance the processor's energy management.
The PartitionAlloc-everywhere feature comes with an advanced Memory allocator to reduce Chrome's memory usage by up to 22% in the process. Similarly, Google states that the update has reduced memory consumption by 8% in the browser's rendering engine and 3% in the GPU. Additionally, Google Chrome also responds faster by 9% thanks to improvements in the new tab removal process.
Chrome 89 also demonstrates a slight reduction in the memory usage of foreground tabs. To achieve this, Google Chrome automatically removes foreground tabs and reclaims up to 100MiB for each tab, a figure that may be higher by 20% on some popular websites.
In addition to performance improvements, Chrome 89 for Windows 10 also includes support for a modern sharing interface, allowing you to easily share websites through other apps like Outlook and OneNote.
You can even use this sharing feature to send websites to nearby devices via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. These changes have been introduced to users with the Chrome 89 update for Windows, and Google is experimenting with additional enhancements.
