If you're wondering which notifications will have content hidden, Google states that the option to hide notifications applies to Google Chat, email notifications, and many other notifications from third-party websites. In other words, instead of displaying the notification content, you'll only see the message 'Content is hidden while you're sharing your screen.'
Specifically, Google explains: 'Now when you share your screen, Chrome will automatically hide popup notification content from websites. This includes notifications from Google Chat, email notifications, and third-party websites. When you end the screen sharing session, all muted notifications will automatically be displayed. Note that muted notifications when sharing a tab in Google Meet.'
The company adds: 'There have been significant changes in how many of us work at this current time. We rely on using Google Meet and other screen sharing solutions. We hope this feature will reduce distractions and prevent sensitive or personal information from inadvertently being displayed while you share your screen.'
According to Google, although the default behavior of notifications in Chrome has been changed, users can still display the content of all notifications in the future by selecting 'Show All' in settings. The notification hiding feature when screen sharing is available to anyone with a Gmail account.
