Although Google hasn't provided detailed information about this issue, users believe that switching the user agent on the new Chromium Edge browser to Google Chrome will enable them to use the new version of Youtube.
Switching the user agent allows users to completely bypass notifications stating that the Edge web browser is not supported and suggesting users install Google's web browser. However, a similar note indicates that the new version of Youtube supports 'the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari & Edge.'
Previously, other Google services did not support Chromium Edge.
A month ago, Google Docs online text processing software displayed a notification stating 'Chromium Edge browser was not supported' - Chromium Edge browser is not supported, suggesting users upgrade to a supported browser.
Similar to this incident, the previous one was likely mainly because Google forgot to 'give the green light' to Microsoft Edge's User Agent string or Microsoft inadvertently placed their web browser on a blacklist.
In fact, Google Meet enterprise messaging service also abruptly stopped working on Edge, seemingly confirming that Google uses a whitelist based on User Agent strings to grant browsers access to their services.
While many feel Google is 'playing dirty' and some of their current and past actions support this notion, the reality is that Chromium Edge users are being denied access to the new version of YouTube entirely akin to a justifiable mistake.
