Last month, Google provided complimentary access to advanced features of Hangouts Meet, now rebranded as Google Meet, for G Suite and G Suite for Education customers. The initial free availability of those tools was set to expire on July 1st as part of Google's efforts to assist remote work.

Today, the search giant announced it will grant free access to those features for all G Suite customers until September 30th. This move aims to support businesses and organizations affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Google Meet's advanced features include support for up to 250 participants, live streaming to up to 100,000 viewers, and the ability to record calls, as well as store them on Google Drive. These features are typically only available to G Suite Enterprise customers at $25 per user per month.
Google also revealed that Meet has seen a surge in usage as people work and learn remotely to help curb the spread of the virus. Earlier this week, the video conferencing service gained over 2 million new users, who spent over 2 billion minutes combined in a single day.
